Rubrik’s Security Operations Center (SOC) team is responsible for threat detection and incident response for the organization. This includes monitoring security alerts and related data across Rubrik’s corporate network, endpoints, cloud, and SaaS environments, to rapidly detect and accurately identify signs of intrusions and other malicious activity; performing investigations to determine impact and cause; managing issues through the incident response lifecycle from beginning to end.

As a Threat Hunting and Detection Engineer, you will be responsible for threat hunting and detection research with a focus on identifying and monitoring threat activity requiring investigation, and triaging security incidents. This role also includes maintaining an external threat perspective via Threat Intelligence sources to identify new threats, techniques, and tools.

Job Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Building partnerships across organizations to collaboratively address cyber threats.
  • Using MITRE ATT&CK® to build detection capabilities and hunt for adversaries on enterprise, cloud, and products.
  • Developing requirements for new technologies, performing R&D, and assisting in transition to operational use.
  • Researching, developing, operationalizing, evaluating, and improving defensive tactics, techniques, and procedures for detecting and responding to modern cyber threats, including development in languages like Python, PowerShell, Ruby.
  • Developing tools to assist with automation of collection and enrichment processing of threat data.
  • Developing and operationalizing cyber defense technology tools sets to mature effective detection and response capabilities leveraging SIEM, EDR, and UEBA technologies.
  • Building adversary emulation plans that reflect real-life threat actors and execute these plans.
  • Collaborating on purple team exercises to test and identify security gaps and detection capabilities.


  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in Information Security and in a Threat Hunting and Detection role
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise detection technologies and processes (Advanced Threat Detection Tools, IDS/IPS, Network Packet Analysis, Endpoint Protection)
  • Strong understanding of security operations - perimeter defense, forensics, incident response, kill chain analysis, risk assessment and security metrics
  • Strong understanding of attack lifecycle of different type cyber attacks(APT, cybercrime etc.), infrastructure lifecycle, and anonymization techniques
  • Ability to build and articulate hunt hypotheses based on observed patterns, anomalies, or known tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) of threat actors.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following - Python, Ruby, Powershell, Go, etc.
  • Experience securing and threat hunting in cloud - AWS, GCP, Azure
  • Experience analyzing malware, extracting observables and enriching SIEM detections
  • Experience developing adversary profiles groups based on Threat Intelligence data
  • Experience developing and deploying effective countermeasures (Yara, Snort, SIEM Correlation Rules, etc.)
  • Experience working with federal departments and agencies or their stakeholders, e.g., state/local/tribal/territorial governments and critical infrastructure organizations
